Welcome to Carver Middle School!
Principal
Principal - Michael Youngblood
We are excited and honored to have you and your child as a part of our family. As we navigate through the school year, it is our goal to promote a safe learning environment for all stakeholders. It is our desire to support the students, staff, and parents as we all must work together for the benefit of our students.
We have an extraordinary staff here at Carver Middle School and we are eager for your child to become entrenched in the many opportunities available to help them succeed. Please know that this will not be possible without the involvement of our parents. We welcome our parents to be an integral part in their child's educational process in order for them to reach their maximum potential as a student and a person. Teaching and promoting life skills will ensure that our students are equipped with the necessary tools to become lifelong learners and exceptional members of society. Our staff at Carver Middle School thank you for allowing us to have a positive impact on your child!
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if there is anything we can do to better serve you.

My Belief:
Middle School is a critical time in the life of a student. It can be an exciting, challenging, and even anxious time for students and parents. It is vital that our Carver Middle School parents, staff, and administrators work together to foster the success of our students. Together, it is the hope that we can help develop these growing learners into the best versions of themselves. It is crucial that we encourage these students to take advantage of the support systems that are offered at home and at school, while also continuing to foster increased ownership in their own learning experience. Middle school is going to be challenging, but there is no reason these challenges can’t turn into some of the greatest victories for our students!

My Belief:
Beginning middle school can be overwhelming for some children, but the middle school years are extremely important. These years are crucial for children developing into healthy teenagers and adults. Children can be successful when they are given the right tools they need to succeed. Encourage your children to take advantage of everything their middle schools have to offer, because it will help prepare them as they transition to high school.
Background and Education:
My educational background includes a B.A. in Sociology and a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Memphis. I have a M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix and a M.A. in Educational Leadership from Georgia College and State University. I also have an Ed.S. in Elementary Education from Troy State University. I have been in education as a teacher since 1997. I have served as a reading specialist and taught language arts and social studies at the middle and high school levels.

My Belief:
I learned long ago that there is more to teaching middle school than just the subject matter. It is my belief that teachers have an opportunity to make a huge impact on a student’s life, and even more so at the middle school level - the middle of all school years when students are turning into teenagers and developing their own beliefs and identities. As educators, we have a unique chance at the middle school level to help students overcome fears, enrich areas of strength and mold future citizens. It is a time to help students open up, work through, and overcome. I also believe it is a must as an adult working with young minds to be a positive adult role model. If I make a mistake, I laugh and admit it. If I am wrong, I apologize so that everyone can hear. It is my hope that students will see through my actions that no one is perfect, but that’s okay; we don’t have to be perfect in order to be smart, confident, and happy. That is what the community will find at Carver - a safe, supportive learning environment where kids are thriving and becoming productive citizens of the world.
Background and Education:
My educational background includes a BA in Political Science from the University of Georgia, an MEd in Middle Grades Education from Mercer University, and an Ed.S in Educational Leadership from the University of West Georgia. I have been in education for 22 years with the first 12 as a middle school language arts teacher and the last 11 as a middle school administrator. I was raised in Walton County and have lived in the Monroe school district for the past 26 years.
